Paccheri are part of the family of large straight cut pastas. ‘La pacca’, translates in the Neapolitan dialect as ‘slap’, probably because of their thick and heavy consistency, like a well arranged slap. Paccheri are recommended for the preparation of dry pasta dressed with thick and full-bodied meat sauce that can penetrate inside the pasta and flavor it. Alternatively they can be used for a pasta bake with cheese and tomato sauce.
